Stella Cothern Hooper, age 78, of Johnson
Ridge Road, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at
Elkin HealthCare. Mrs. Hooper was born
August, 22, 1927 in Surry
County to Paul & Lura
Collins.
Mrs.
Hooper was a member of Macedonia
Baptist Church
and was retired from the Wilkes County Library.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first
husband, Howard Cothern and her second husband Woodrow Hooper; a twin sister,
Ella Money; two brothers, Ralph Collins and Albert Collins.
Survivors
include: a stepson, Ron Hooper and wife
Trish of Greensboro; a stepdaughter, Sheila Hinson and husband Frank of State
Road; two brothers, Joe Collins and wife Alma of Elkin, Romie Collins and wife
Faye of Archdale; a sister, Maxine Cranfield of Winston-Salem; a sister-in-law,
Rosa Lee Collins of Ronda; four step grandchildren and five step great
grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June
15, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Macedonia
Baptist Church
by Rev. Joel Blevins. Burial will follow
in at Round Hill Baptist
Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour
prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist
Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that
memorials be made to Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund.

Nora Evelyn Rash Bishop, age 88, widow of Edward Clay Bishop of Peace Street, North
Wilkesboro, died Sunday, June 11, 2006 at Britthaven of Wilkesboro. Mrs. Bishop was born August 18, 1917 in Wilkes County
to John Bynum and Bessie Evelyn Rash.
She was preceded in death by a brother James H. Rash.
Surviving
are two sons, James Edward Bishop and John William Bishop, both of North
Wilkesboro; three daughters, Madge Elizabeth Lineberry and Sylvia Diane Logan
both of North Wilkesboro, Mary Elaine Frazier of Moravian Falls; one sister,

Mrs.
Anderson was born in Wilkes
County, June 1, 1920, to
Myrth and Bertha M. Mathis. She was a
member of Cranberry
Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who
was loved and cherished by her family.
Mrs. Anderson was an avid quilter and for many years she designed and
quilted the Grand Marshall's quilt for the Brushy Mountain Apple Festival.
In
addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by
three sisters, Grace Riling, Gertie Roberts, and Mary Wheeler; two brothers,
Jarvie Mathis and Archie Mathis.

Anderson is survived by three daughters, Glenda Pardue and husband, Johnny of
Roaring River, Wanda Campbell and husband, Don of Statesville, Jan Caudill and

Flossie Mae Hemric, age 80 of NC Hwy 268 passed away Sunday June 10, 2006 at
her residence. Mrs. Hemric was born September 1, 1925 in Surry County
to Sim Wesley and Lucy Davis Hemmings.
Mrs. Hemric was retired from Burlington Industries of Ronda and was a
member of New Home Church of Christ in Dobson.
In
addition to her parents Mrs. Hemric was preceded in death by husbands Ralph
Victor Draughn and Dwight Eller Hemric, two sisters Fairy Queen Hemmings and
Vera Hemmings Mabe, and one brother John Wesley Hemmings.

Baptist Church
where she was the organist. Mrs. Hendrix
taught in the Wilkes County School System for 16 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers
Association.
In
addition to her parents, Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by a brother,
Charles Higgins.
In
addition to her husband, Mrs. Hendrix is survived by one daughter, Lisa Pruitt
and husband, Tim of North Wilkesboro, one sister, Glenna Joines of South Bend,
Indiana, one brother, Boyd Anthony "Tony" Higgins and wife, Lynda of
North Wilkesboro, and three grandchildren.

James Albert Bradley, 93, of 168
Hunter Road, North Wilkesboro, passed away,
Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at Avante Rehab and Nursing Care in Wilkesboro, N.C.
Mr.
Bradley was born January 26, 1913 in Toronto,
Canada and was
the son of the late Charles Richard Bradley and Jessie Kastie Bradley. MR. Bradley attended Toronto
public schools and was a sales manager for Jones West Ford in Sparks,
NV and a security site manager for Lowe's in Wilkesboro, NC. He was a member of the Rameses Shiners Club
in Toronto, Canada
and Lifeline Christian Church in North Wilkesboro. He enjoyed and touched many people's lift by
playing the fiddle.
On
April 22, 1978, Mr. Bradley married the late Verta Mae Burchett Bradley, who
passed away in 1997.
In
addition to his wife, Mr. Bradley was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs.
Isabell Bradley Johnson and her husband, Tom Johnson of Toronto
and two brothers, Tom Bradley and Allan Bradley, also from Toronto.

an Army Veteran of World War II.

member of the Republican Party and served as chairman of the Mt. Pleasant
Precinct for over thirty years.
