Town to test hydrants
The
North Wilkesboro Fire Department and Utilities Department will be testing fire
hydrants beginning on March 21 and going through the end of June.
The
testing process will ensure the fire hydrant are properly maintained and
operating in case of an emergency.
During
the fire hydrant testing, North Wilkesboro
water customers may experience cloudy water for a short period of time. This is
caused by water flowing through the lines and breaking away sediment and
mineral deposits. The deposits are washed from the system through fire
hydrants, however, some residue my still be present in the lines. Anyone who
experiences cloudy water should run their cold water until it clears up. In
addition, customers should also remove and flush the aerator (screen) on all faucets.
The
town asks for patience while the system testing and maintenance is being
performed. Anyone with questions can call the North Wilkesboro Utilities
Department at 336-667-7129 or the North Wilkesboro Fire Department at
336-8383-2552.
